AMVT*3 muti-position air handlers with thermal expansion valves (TXV) engineered for compatibility with R-32 low global warming potential (GWP) refrigerant.
Refrigerant Detection System (RDS)
It is imperative that an R-32 indoor air handler be appropriately matched with an R-32 outdoor unit. All air handlers matched for use with an R-32 system must include the required Refrigerant Detection System (RDS) for R-32 systems. The new AMVT*3 air handlers are shipped from the factory with RDS included in the printed circuit board (PCB). The new AMVT*3 air handlers are not backwards compatible for use with R-410A systems.
System matched R-32 air handlers are equipped with a sensor in the airflow which is connected to the PCB. When R-32 refrigerant is detected, the PCB will interrupt the cooling and heating demand and keep the blower running until the R-32 refrigerant level detected has fallen below a set threshold.
Zoning and Accessory Control Kit (Part# 0230K00007)
For all R-32 systems with new or existing zoning or indoor air quality accessories, a Zoning and Accessory Control Kit must be installed as part of the leak detection system.
